Love sweeps? Our guess is you love daily deals then as well – the latest online craze to sweep the world.

If you’re new to daily deals (or group buying, as it’s otherwise known), you’ve sure been missing out! We’re talking about sites like Groupon and LivingSocial that offer HUGE discounts on products, services and vouchers – sometimes as much as 90%.

As any deal-addict would know, it gets to be a bit of pain when you try and keep up with dozens of daily deals sites at once. You don’t want to miss a great deal in your city, but you don’t want to have to check the same sites again and again…

An Australian daily deals site, The Dealer, has come up with an ingenious platform that allows you to get all the daily deals in one place. What’s more, you can filter the deals so you only see deals in your city that match your interests. Pretty clever, right?

The best part about a service like this is that you can unsubscribe from all the other emails you get (from Livingsocial, Spreets, etc!) and just get one email from The Dealer. So simple and you get to keep your inbox clear!

It’s perfect also if you have very specific interests (Thai food in Sydney? LOL!) as you don’t have to sort through offers that don’t interest you.

Stop Throwing Money Away and Start entering Sweeps!

One thing that never ceases to amaze me is the fact that millions of people pay god knows how much in Lottery and Raffle tickets, while there are thousands of free Sweepstakes to enter online, which have an equal or even better chance of winning then those lotteries and raffle games, but without the need of spending money to take that shot at the prize!

Sweepstakes and Contests – The difference

Sweepstakes have taken the web by storm, and many web sites use them, offering amazing prizes calling them sweepstakes contests. However, quite often the term “Sweepstakes” is used incorrect and instead of offering a true Sweepstake contest, the special contest consists out for playing an instant game in your browser or refers to a “Lotto” type of game, which is not the same and quite possibly illegal. While many web site operators make this mistake, it is quite easy to explain the difference between Sweepstakes and regular contests.

A contest is defined as a competition where a degree of skill is required in order to win. Basically you enter by producing the required item, be is a poem, a recipe or even a picture of your living room makeover. If your item is good enough, you win the contest. Some contests may also require an entry fee in order to participate.

Sweepstakes, unlike the contests described above are free and always a matter of chance instead of skill. Winners are selected at random, and prizes are made available by the promoting company. Since the random element in Sweepstakes is a requirement for a game to be called a “Sweepstake” purchasing goods or any other type of action cannot influence the outcome of the draw, which also is a common misconception.

While Sweepstakes is the popular term for this type of contest worldwide, the exception of the rule would be the UK, where this kind of contests are called prize draws.

Usually this type of contest is sponsored and used to generate brand awareness amongst the general public regarding their products. As we approach the 21st Annual National Sweepstakes Convention, we wanted to reach out to all our hardcore sweeper friends and ask them to share their latest. Many folks that come to SweepstakesHub.com are not necessarily seasoned sweepers. Many don’t know much about it and some even doubt that sweepstakes actually work!

The Big Apple Sweepstakers — New York City, NY

We are a very active group, and meet every other month. At our last meeting, the wins that were announced were: $1000 twice, Broadway tickets 2X, Yankee tickets, Rainforest cafe concert tickets, two laptops, a microwave oven, two bar refrigerators, wins of $100 or $100 certificates 10X, $500 2X, $400, $250, $50 14X, $1000 gift certificate to IGA, music trip to Nashville, NASCAR trip to Las Vegas. Also since our last meeting our members have won: two trips to Aspen (both grand prizes pulled in), trip to All Star game, trip to Las Vegas, a telescope, concert tickets 2X and a car!

We are very active!  We’ve been in existence almost 8 years. We meet the second Tuesday of every month. We decorate envelopes, make post cards, exchange entry forms and local drop box info at our meetings plus have a pool party in the summer and an Xmas party in the winter. It’s a very fun group who share and are able to win some incredible prizes. I personally won my 3rd car last year but my group wins everything from soup to nuts!

The Lucky Lilacs are still active, we will be celebrating our 5th anniversary in August. We meet once a month. Yes! Our club is very active. We meet every other month at Ryan’s Steak House in front of Concord Mills Mall in Concord, near the speedway. We have a lot of members but usually between 20 to 25 attend our meetings. I have won so many wonderful things through the years – sweeping since 1996. My biggest wins have been a 2002 Ford Focus, $10.000, trip to Australia, and lots of other stuff that my family has enjoyed. This is the greatest hobby. This year I’ve won 4 TV’s for me and 1 TV for my Mom. The places I’ve gotten to go have been incredible – when people ask and I tell them about my winnings, I’m not sure some of them believe me.

I am one of the founders of THE FORTUNATE COOKIES, and the leader, at present. Yes, the FORTUNATE COOKIES is still a very active club.  We meet once a month (the 3rd Tues. night of each month). We have “annual” outings.  Once a year we have our meeting at a local casino. We gamble for one hour, meet afterwards, and have our meeting.  Once a year we have our Summer Picnic, and meeting. Then there’s our “Christmas Party” at a private home, where we exchange gifts, eat, and have our meeting. We continuously have wins from our members. Several of us have won vehicles and/or ATV’s. Washers/Dryers, Computers, Digital Cameras, Flat Screen TV’s, Wii’s, Trips and higher end prizes are common amongst us! We keep a yearly running total on our prizes (anything over $300).

We have all won some type of Bud cooler, lots of gift cards. various sporting event tickets, trips, etc. I have been sweeping 20 years this year.  My family and I have won 8 vehicles, a $32K garage, 3 jet skis, 3 boats, 4-wheeler, so many trips, mowers, grills, and TVs – I could not even begin to count. 
 
Sweeping is not a hobby to me…it’s a business. I retired at 46 thanks to sweeping! Everything I win I turn into cash one way or another.

The Official Rules Part 2

You planned to follow the official rules, but you accidentally entered yourself twice in a one entry per person sweepstakes. What now?

When sweepstakes were only mail-based, probably nothing would occur as your duplicate entry would be buried in hundreds or thousands of entries across dozens of mailbags, and chances are, it would never be found. Now, sweepstakes management companies use software to track entries. After a sweepstakes closes, and before the drawing, they do something called a “dedup”. They run the entry database through a program that allows them to find duplicate entries within minutes. (This software was originally designed to eliminate the cheaters, but it will also catch inadvertent extra entries too.) Depending on the official rules, all or all but one, entry would be removed from the database.

So, how do you prevent yourself from entering twice. Well, if the company is good, it would have created a Repeat Entry Block, stopping you from making the mistake in the first place. If not, you can keep track of the sweepstakes you enter in a notebook, on a calendar, in a spreadsheet, or do what I do. Rely on your memory.

The Official Rules, Part I

Read The Official Rules
 and Follow Them!

This is my number one tip because most people don’t read the official rules before they enter a sweepstakes. One company I interviewed said only 2% of the people clicked the Official Rules button on online sweepstakes entry pages. Another source stated that up to 40% of mail-in entries were disqualified because the official rules were not followed.

It is very important to read the Official Rules to see:
·      if you are eligible to enter;
·      how many times you can enter;
·      how many people in the household can enter;
·      the start and end dates of the sweepstakes;
·      any other rules specific to that sweepstakes.

I have potentially disqualified myself countless times by not reading the rules before I enter. I have entered:
·      out-of-state or out-of-country sweepstakes;
·      more than once in a one-entry-per-person sweepstakes;
·      both my husband and myself in one-entry-per-household sweepstakes;
·      before the sweepstakes starts;
·      my husband in women only sweepstakes;
·      sweepstakes where I did not meet the age requirements.

Many sweepstakes have overlapping methods of entry. Reading the official rules will also allow you to determine the best entry method for you.

Incredibly faithful to their master, loyal and loving to its family, they have years of history herding cattle on the plains and mountains of Switzerland originating from Entlebuch, a valley in the district of the Cantons Lucerne and Berne, the first description under the name “Entlebucherhund” dates from the year 1889.
